I guess, statistically, it’s rare for celebrities to get into car wrecks. Although it may not feel like it because of how public they are, standards drive more car crashes than reputations. Anyway, at the risk of spoiling my own point, Alan Rick reportedly crashed a Rivian R1T into a few cars and, ultimately, a pizza shop Tuesday night in Hollywood — just like his dad’s Ferrari. It wasn’t enough.

According to LA Police, the Tuesday night crash is still under investigation. Surveillance footage shows the chaotic scene where an apparently out-of-control Raven rear-ended a car at a stoplight, crossed an intersection, clipped another car, and finally crashed through the wall of a pizza shop. Due to the high speed, the police have several possibilities as to why the accident happened. While a mechanical or software issue could be to blame, we haven’t heard much about it in the news. Right now, police think it’s possible that it was a medical episode that led to erratic driving. However, it’s also possible that the movie star can mix up which one pedals. So far, we just don’t know.

Are Ravens safe?

Considering the driver was unhurt, it seems the new electric truck at least did a good job keeping its driver safe. Actually, Raffallo’s pizza shop took a hell of a lick. The truck hit the building so hard that the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety is investigating to make sure the building is still stable and safe. If Raven can crash into a building, and the building can be in worse shape, I’d say that’s a great thing.

The IIHS gave the Rivian R1T a Top Safety Pick+, the organization’s largest crash safety test. All that crash safety design certainly came into play here, but there’s not much you can do about avoiding a crash if there’s a driver incident or equipment malfunction.
