After mentioning that she thought he was “cute,” Stamos called her.

“He invited me on set and we went out and just… just hit it off, like… just hit it off. We were together for about a year. John told me he loved me about eight months into the relationship. I’m a girl. I remember it very clearly because I was waiting and waiting for him to tell me that he loved me, because I didn’t know if he did and we had to. And are guilty,” Copley explained.

Things were moving in the right direction and Copley was introduced to Stamos’ parents, but shortly after spending time at their home, her mother, Loretta, called the model and told her of her dreams of living happily ever after in a heartbeat. Shattered.

“Teri,” she said, “I know you love John, but don’t intend to marry him because he has no intention of marrying you.” Copley added: “I remember it like it was yesterday. (I) thought John had said it to her, and she was a mother looking at me like a daughter and thinking, ‘I want this girl.’ Better warn him not to get his hopes up.’

After the alleged warning, Copley felt she had no choice but to break up with Stamos.

“I don’t think we should see each other anymore,” she told a stunned Stamos after driving home. And when he asked, “Why?” “I don’t think we should do that,” he said.

She added, “It was my fault, I was young. I didn’t know how to tell her to talk to him” about what her mother had told her. “I left it like that. (I) lived with this regret and I didn’t understand it, but I was hurt and I was mad.

The incident with Danza would happen “three or four days later,” but what happened, Copley explains, is very different from what Stamos claimed in his book.

In his memoir, Stamos claims he drove to her house, where he saw a black 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster in the driveway.

“The blinds are closed, but the door is slightly open,” Stamos recalled in his book. “I peek in and see four feet poking out of the wrinkled, floral-print duvet that once kept me warm. My little dancer is in bed with Mr. Porsche Speedster.

According to Copley, Stamos knocked on her door while Danza’s car was parked outside, and she answered the door “fully dressed.”

“(He) just shook his head and looked at me like, ‘How could you?’ Well I just looked at him and didn’t say anything,” he said. “I just looked at him like, ‘What do you care?'”

“He certainly didn’t come to my house and find me naked on the bed with a sheet on,” she added. “I mean nothing like that happened.”

Years later, Copley was finally able to set the record straight about that infamous day when he and Stamos rekindled their relationship after his 2004 divorce from Rebecca Romijn.

“I wanted to because I was a little older and I wanted to tell him what happened,” Copley explained. “And so I went over to his house and I sat down and I said, ‘John, do you know that your mother called me and said you’re never going to marry me?’

“And he looked at me and said, ‘I didn’t know that, Teri.’ He said I would have married you. I was madly in love with you.

After that conversation, Copley says they “shared a mutual friendship and love as friends,” which ended after the release of her book and claims of his infidelity.

“Him casually throwing me out there to make fun of people” and “making all these assumptions” was “so painful and shocking to me. This is not the life I’ve ever known.”
