Tony Shaloub returns as beloved detective Adrian Monk in the first trailer for the peacocking Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, released Wednesday.

Set in a post-COVID-19 pandemic world, the film revolves around Monk – a talented investigator characterized by his obsessive-compulsive disorder and multiple phobias – who tackles one last murder case. Comes out of retirement.

This time, the case is deeply personal, as it involves his stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for his wedding.

The 70-year-old Tony-winning actor reprises his role as the sterile detective more than a decade after taking his final bow on the hit USA Network comedy series.

Andy Brickman, creator of the award-winning original series, said in a statement: ‘It’s been almost fourteen years since the world saw a fresh installment of Monk. ‘The world has changed enormously in the intervening years and Monk 2023 reflects that changing world’.

Brackman said he was “thrilled that every single one of our stars was so excited to come back” after the news that the returning cast alongside Shalub includes Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Jason Gray Stanford, Melora Harden and Hector. Elizondo included. .

Tagger is then seen driving with Monk in the passenger seat as he reminds him that there is a “bomb” and that they need to rush it.

He then rammed his car into another parked car and said, ‘We should leave a note’.
